On October 31, 2004, 1st Lieutenant Matt Lynch was killed in Iraq during his third tour of duty with the U.S. Marines. He was 25 years old.

Matt was a 2001 graduate of Duke University and a two-sport varsity athlete. To honor Matt and celebrate his extraordinary legacy as a True Gentleman and an American hero, a scholarship fund has been created in his name.

This $100,000+ endowment will provide whole or partial scholarships to students at Duke University.
